A man hit-and-killed on N3

A man, believed to be in his 40s, was killed this morning after he was knocked over by a bakkie on the N3 highway near the New England Road in Pietermaritzburg.

Upon arrival on scene, paramedics found the man lying in the centre island between the highway.

Paramedics assessed the man and had found that he had sustained numerous, fatal injuries.

Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene.

The driver of the bakkie was assessed and found to have escaped injury.

Local authorities will be investigating this matter further.
