While some Western
Cape universities are preparing to continue with their academic activities from
today, others are still engaging with students on the way forward.
The University of
Cape Town, University of the Western Cape as well as the Cape Peninsula
University of Technology had to shut down after violent protests erupted on its
campuses.
Students have been
protesting over the past four weeks, calling for free higher education.
CPUT has since
decided to relocate its 'essential operations' to a military base where exams
are set to start later this week.
Following violent
protests last week, the institution's Lauren Kansley says their campuses have
been quiet over the weekend.
