Thirteen injured in collision

Thirteen people, including two children, were injured when three cars collided with each other on the R45 approximately 10 kilometres outside of Franschhoek, Western Cape.

Paramedics from ER24 and other services arrived on the scene where they found three vehicles scattered across the road.

Their injuries ranged from multiple fractures to possible head injuries. Nine others sustained minor to moderate injuries. 

Some of the occupants were trapped in the vehicles and had to be freed by the local fire department using the jaws of life. 

 It is understood that two vehicles collided with each other causing one of the vehicles to crash into a third. The exact cause of the collision is not yet known.

Local authorities attended the scene.
