The South African Domestic Service & Allied Workers Union is set to have a demonstrations in front of the gates of parliament tomorrow, 20 October, from 13:00 until 15:00.

SADSAWU’s Hester Stephens said: “We as the union feel that it is by time that domestic workers are covered by the basic conditions of employment.

Our demands are R4000.00 for a full-time domestic worker, domestic workers can’t cope with R2685.00pm.

We spot a problem with our government, when it comes to the vulnerable workers in South Africa they don’t seem to care about domestic workers.

We feel like we’re contributing to the economy of the country.

We would love to have the minster of labour there tomorrow to hand over our memorandum.”
