Grade 12 learner stabbed to death at Ihlumelo Senior Secondary school in Paarl

The Western Cape Education Department is investigating a fatal stabbing at a school in Paarl.

A grade 12 learner at Ihlumelo Senior Secondary School was stabbed to death yesterday.
It's believed the incident is gang related.

Spokesperson for the Education MEC Jessica Shelver “It has reported that a grade 12 learner at Ihlumelo secondary school was fatally stabbed yesterday.”

We are deeply sadden by the tragic and intensive loss of a young life and a heartfelt condolences goes to the family, friends and also the community.”

We are informed that at the time of the accident there was a security guard on the premises, however this is not determent to the perpetrators.”

Schelver says “We have requested   additional security at the school and the South African police services have agreed to increase visibility at the school today.”

 She says “The early indication are that this incident was gang related.”


We will be providing a counselling to teachers, leaners, eye witness and people are really traumatised.” She concluded
