Police have opened a case of culpable homicide after a seven year old boy from Bonteheuwel died in a tragic car accident in Delft yesterday.
Captain Joe Wilson says the incident occurred when a 19 year old male, who was driving a BMW motor vehicle on Delft Main Road, lost control of the vehicle.
Then the left front wheel of the vehicle detached from it.
“The runaway wheel then hit Ethan Mathews, critically injuring him,” says Wilson.
Wilson adds the medical services rushed to the scene and treated the boy for head injuries, but he subsequently died on the scene
