Cosatu has condemned the brutal killing of Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging leader Eugene Terreblance.

The trade union federation says despite Terreblance’s opposition to democracy and his acts of injustice to human rights his killing cannot be condoned as with any form of violence.

Spokesperson Patrick Craven says they however do not agree with the argument that the struggle song has anything do with his murder.

“We certainly don’t agree with the argument that this has anything to with the ANC’s struggle songs, given that some people do believe that and are talking about revenge, we urge people to remain calm,” Craven said.

On the other hand the right wing AWB says they will avenge Eugene Terre’blanche’s alleged murder, but have called for calm amongst their members while investigations continue.

Terre’blanche was found dead in his home in Ventersdorp in the North West late yesterday evening and two suspects have so far been arrested.

At this point no political motivation for the incident has been given and it is believed that Terre’blanche’s death is the result of a wage disagreement with the two suspects.

His family has urged the media and the public to not to ask the family any questions and leave the matter to the police.

Meanwhile opposition parties are placing the blame for Terre’blanche’s death on the singing of a controversial song entitled, “Kill the Boer”.

They say the ruling African National Congress is at fault due to their reluctance to ban the singing of the song.

The ANC meanwhile says it is too early to connect the song to Terre’blanche’s death.
