A security officer at the Worcester Magistrate’s Court has been arrested for being in possesion of various explosive items, firearms and ammunition.
The 45 year old suspect was arrested after police members followed up information regarding storage of illegal items by the suspect in a store room at the court.
The police’s Warrant Officer November Filander says following items were found during the search:
A variety of rifles, pistols, stunt granades, smoke granades, illunination granades, several caliber of firearm rounds and army outfits in safes, boxes and cupboards.
“During our search we also found two police radios; one in his office at the court and the other, in the backyard of his parents residence in Olyn Avenue, Worcester, under a tent,” said Filander.
The suspect will appear in the Worcester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday on charges of theft, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, possession of drugs and illegal possession of explosive devices.
Filander says the investigation still continues.
