Five people have been arrested for robbery in Milton road, Observatory.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Hilton Malila says the arrest follows as police members on routine patrols, noticed a white VW Jetta vehicle with five occupants that was parked at Observatory railway station.
“When the police officers approached the vehicle, the occupants wanted to flea. During a search of the vehicle, we recovered a ladies hand bag containing personal documents, Nokia cellular phone, computer hard drive and a wallet containing cash.
“A preliminary investigation indicated that the goods recovered in the vehicle, was robbed from a couple in Milton road Observatory between quarter past eleven and half past eleven that night,” said Malila.
All the belongings that were taken during the robbery were recovered and returned to the complainant added Malila.
The suspects currently in police custody are facing a charge of robbery with aggravated circumstances. They will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ court tomorrow.
