A police constable has commited suicide after shoting dead his wife in their home in Parl East last night.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer November Filander says the 35 year old officer was found lying in the kitchen sustaining a gunshot wound to his head.
His 34 year old partner was shot under her chin.
Filander says according to the neighobours the deceased had a dispute, however it is unclear what the arguing was about, before the shots were fired.
The officer is identitied as Constable Wayne Scheepers from Ocean View police station.
His service pistol, a 9mm Z88 was lying next to him.
The couple died on the scene.
A murder case has been opened for investigation.
