In wake of the violent service delivery protests and brutal farm killings Danny Jordaan says he is rarely asked about crime despite South Africa’s poor reputation abroad.
The World Cup Local Organising Committee CEO, says the positives in South Africa far outweigh the negatives.
With just 66 days before kick-off Jordaan says he is confident that crime is no longer an issue ahead of the arrival of nearly half a million visitors.
The former SAFA CEO says his committee’s efforts together with those of government have allayed fears ahead of the world's biggest sporting event.
Police minister Nathi Mthethwa has indicated that more than 40 000 additional police officers have been recruited to ensure the safety of everyone during the World Cup.
Media reports say estimations suggest that R2.4 billion has been spent on security alone.
