The Congress of South African Students has called for schools across the country to be declared smoke-free zones.

Cosas Spokesperson Collen Malatji said it is unacceptable when teachers smoke in front of the learners because they are supposed to be role models for them.

He added that they will be engaging with the department in this regard.

Malatji said we have been very vocal on the issues that are affecting local schools and this is one of the issues that they have to take seriously.
