Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe is conduct service delivery verification at one of poverty identified areas in the Eastern Cape Province this week.
Lubala Village in Flagstaff is one of the sites that was identified by the Eastern Cape government on their War on Poverty Campaign as one of the poor communities in the province.
Presidential Official Zingaphi Jakuja says the Deputy President indicated a desire to visit all launch sites that were identified in the campaign.
The War on Poverty Campaign was launched in the village in September 2008.
Jakuja says commitments on service delivery were also made at the launch.
She adds the service delivery verification visits aim to ascertain progress made in meeting commitments made to communities, households and individuals during the campaign launches to re-energize and re-focus the anti-poverty initiatives of government and to provide political leadership and mobilise all stakeholders.
Jakuja says the campaign is an instrument of coordination, alignment, support and supervision of anti-poverty initiatives to impact greatly on households and communities living in poverty in the short-term, to halve poverty by 2014 and eventually eradicating it in the long term.
