Three suspects have been arrested for a business robbery at Grooter Schuur yesterday.
It is alleged two male suspects entered a coffee shop and placed orders.
Sergeant Hilton Malila says few minutes later one of the suspects threatened cashiers with a pair of scissors, forcing them to open the safe.
The suspects then tied the cashiers up and fled the scene on foot with R3 000.
Malila says preliminary investigations revealed that one of the cashiers knew about the incident, and was also arrested.
“It also alleged that a 19 year old cashier, who was on duty at the time of the robbery, played a vital part in it, and was also arrested,” said Malila.
The police and security personnel were alerted, a chase ensued and the two male suspects were arrested on the hospital premises.
Malila says they also recovered the cash that was taken in the possession of the suspects.
The trio will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court tomorrow on a charge of Business Robbery.
