The Western Cape Department of Education said it is investigating the case against a girl who was allegedly sent home for having thick braids on her hair.

The Grade 10 pupil from Eben Donges High School was told to stay at home until she changed her hairstyle.

The WCED says they will be engaging with the school to prevent this from happening again.

WCED’s Paddy Attwell said our main concern is that the learner was not at school, she was sent home to sort out school policy and we will discus the matter with the parent.
