Human Settlements allocates R35 million for companies owned by women

Minister of Human Settlement Lindiwe Sisulu has committed R35 billion to be awarded to companies and cooperatives owned by women. 

In a statement Minister Sisulu said they are committed to supporting women and youth. 

She added that Parliament and women organisations need to monitor that woman are empowered and given opportunities. 

Ministerial Spokesperson Ndivhuwo Mabaya said 30% of budget of the Department of Human Settlements will be committed to women.

Mabaya said our budget over 5 years is estimated at R150 billion that they are going to have access to more than R35 billion we hope this will help transform them from running small companies to running business that will compete to group five and others.

“We think that after 5 years South Africa will see the coming up of very competent women owned companies,” Mabaya added.
