Western Cape MEC of Social Development Albert Fritz while delivering his speech at the Provincial Parliament stated that the South African Social Security Agency is failing the poor.

MEC Fritz said often they have to face the brunt of community anger and frustration because of the poor was SASSA carries out their mandate.

MEC Fritz said I’m pleased to say that this has begun to yield encouraging results. Our efforts saw 2907 households, calculated as having a minimum of four occupants, receiving social assistance. This is approximately 11628 people who received help to stave-off the difficulties that come with grinding poverty.
“However this result is very much dependent on Sassa displaying an equal level of efficiency on their side. If we want real examples of government letting down the poor we have to look no further than Sassa Fritz added.
