Western Cape motorist warned to drive with care

The Western Cape Traffic Authorities have warned all motorists to drive with care and caution on the road.

As the officials held road blocks across the province many motorists were arrested for various crimes on the road.

WC Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said the number of offenders on the road is on the increase.

Africa said we stopped more than 3059 vehicles in these roadblocks,1442 drivers were tested for alcohol and we arrested 27 drunken drivers.

Meanwhile the Number of road fatalities stands at 12 this weekend and according to officials this number shows an increase.  

Two people were killed when their car crashed in Swellendam. Eight pedestrians were killed in separate areas.

Two Cyclists were killed last night. Africa said we issued fines at the value of R355 500.
