Western Cape MEC of Economic Opportunities Alan Winde on Thursday visited two food gardens in Khayelitsha as part of the Provincial Department of Agriculture’s suitcase programme to help insecure households.

MEC Winde said the food gardens play an important role in ensuring that residents have sustainable, healthy food supply.

Ministerial Spokesperson Bronwynne Jooste said the gardens contain essentials to increase production.

What the Western Cape Department of Agriculture is currently doing is looking for ways to bring new markets to these food gardens so that they can use to start and further their small businesses” Jooste added.
