The United Democratic Movement has welcomed the resignation by the Independent Electoral Commission Chairperson Advocate Pansy Tlakula.

President Jacob Zuma received a letter of resignation from Tlakula on Tuesday.  She was taken to court by five political parties after they accused her that her integrity had been comprised.

UDM President Bantu Holomisa said she wasted everybody’s time and in the process cost the IEC’s s lot of money which was used to pay her legal cost.

“We however call upon the commission to begin to implement fully the findings of the Public Protector which fingered some officials who used work with Pansy Tlakula.

We feel strongly as well that we need to replace Pansy Tlakula as soon as possible and that Parliament must speed up that process.” Holomisa said.
