Accident leaves pedestrian critically injured with turn of events

Netcare 911 paramedics attended to an accident scene on E’skia Mphahlele Drive in Pretoria late last night whereby a pedestrian was left in a critical condition. 

The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police invetsigation. 

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Santi Steinmann said upon the arrival on scene they found one person in a critical condition after they were knocked over by a motor vehicle.

Steinmann said the critically injured patient was treated on scene and transported to a nearby hospital for further care.

Meanwhile in another incident on the N2 near the Dickens Road Bridge in Amanzimtoti a beer truck overturned and the driver was not injured however traffic was obstructed for several hours. 

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Chris Botha said the driver managed to escape injury but paramedics were on standby when another ambulance pulled up to the side with a lady that was in full term labor.

Botha said Paramedics got into the ambulance and assisted with the birth of the baby.

“A little girl was born at the scene and thereafter the mother and baby was transported to a nearby hospital for further care Steinmann added.
