The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport in the Western Cape is investigating the protection of the Griqua Kranshoek Monument.

On Monday MEC of Cultural Affairs and Sport Nomafrench Mbombo held a meeting with the community of Plettenberg Bay to discuss issues around the recognition of Heritage Sites in the province.

Ministerial Spokesperson Siviwe Gwarube said they engaged extensively with Griqua community.

“We look forward to working with Heritage Western Cape Council to make sure, that we somehow use this relationship that was formed yesterday, to protect the site so that far beyond heritage month, we continue to recognise and protect our heritage site in the province.” Gwarube added.
