Western Cape MEC of Social Development
Albert Fritz says the province needs to tackle Foetal Alcohol Syndrome if we
wish to break the cycle of poverty in many communities.
This as Tuesday was International Foetal
Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Day.
MEC Fritz said the prevalence of FASD in
the province threatens government’s commitment to improving education outcomes
and the health of citizens in the province.
“We will continue as the Western Cape
government and Social Development department to introduce interventions programs
specifically around alcohol abuse in our communities, and create
alternative programs for people to see that there is life without alcohol and they
can reduce violence.” Fritz added.
