Benoni crash leaves one dead and four injured

An accident this morning, involving a truck and a bakkie left one person dead and four people severe injured on the N12 Etwatwa exit near Benoni.
It is alleged that the truck was heading onto the exit when the brakes of the truck allegedly failed, resulting in the fatal collision.

ER24 Spokesperson Pieter Rossouw said Over and above the fatal injured patient the driver of the bakkie, three other people were injured. The passenger in the bakkie sustained critical injuries while the two occupants of the truck sustained minor injuries.

Rossouw said ER24 paramedics transported one occupant of the truck to Sunshine Hospital for further treatment.

Exact details to the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
