The National Union of Mineworkers in the Western Caper said it is shocked and disgusted at the death of a workers at a construction site in Pinelands.

NUM Provincial regional Secretary Happiness Holiday said one death is too man and construction companies need to make sure that health and safety structures are functioning at their workplaces.

Holiday added that our dismay to the companies is that they do not involve us in the investigation of those fatalities.

“Now as the stakeholder we are recognised as the union, in terms of the membership, they do not involve us in the investigation, we believe that that they could be something they are hiding.

Our worry is that these incidents are not reported to the Labour Department for them to be captured.” Holiday said.
