ANC in the WC to take the City of Cape Town to court

The African National Congress in the Western Cape together with other political parties will be taking the City of Cape Town to court.

This is after chaos erupted at the full city council meeting on Wednesday which resulted in some members being locked out by law enforcement officials.

ANC’s Xolani Sotashe said they will also take the matter to the Public Protector.  He added that what happened on Wednesday was a shame to our constitutional democracy.

Sotashe said we agreed that because there was no notice given about the reconvening of the meeting at a second venue and parties were deprived their rights to speak on important issues.

“So we feel that the Democratic Alliance has flouted the constitutional responsibilities. Now we have the right and an obligation as opposition parties to take this matter to the next level” Sotashe added.
