SACP defends ANC against newspaper reports

The South African Communist Party in the Western Cape said it is concerned by reports in newspapers that are targeting the African National Congress.

This is after a newspaper over the weekend published Western Cape ANC Provincial Leader Marius Fransman promised to pay coloured people for their votes, which Fransman has denied.

SACP Provincial Spokesperson Masonwabe Sokoyi said these newspapers have always been part of the anti ANC alliance campaign together with Democratic Alliance.

"We view the attack as part of the launching a campaign towards 2016 local government elections, hence, they are using Marius Fransman as a scapegoat to justify some of the blunders that they have made over the past few years.” Sokoyi added.
