An accident this afternoon on the R59 near the
Verwoerd offramp in Meyerton left a woman dead.
It is believed the woman in her 40s lost control of
her vehicle which caused it to roll down the embankment multiple times coming
to a rest on its roof.
ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said ER24
paramedics were alerted to the incident and upon arrival they found a light motor
vehicle lying on its roof.
Meiring said on assessment paramedics found the
critically injured patient lying motionless next to her overturned vehicle.
Meiring added that the patient had sustained severe
injuries to her head, chest and abdomen.
“We began treatment of the patient to stabilise her
vital signs. After 30 minutes of advanced life support treatment, the patient
unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.”Meiring said
The details surrounding the exact cause of the
incident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
