A man has died after he was electrocuted outside a business park near the N12 in Glenander, south of Johannesburg.

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring said ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the lifeless body of the patient lying on the sidewalk near some exposed cable.

Meiring added that paramedics assessed the patient, but found that he had unfortunately already succumbed to his fatal injuries.

The exact cause of the incident will remain the subject of a police investigation.

Meanwhile 102 lives might have been saved after 34 people donated blood yesterday at the “We are so Vein” blood donor awareness campaign in Clearwater Mall.

This campaign was an initiative of ER24 in collaboration with Accident Angels, Clearwater Mall and the South African National Blood Service.

ER24 spokeswoman Chitra Bodasing said the main focus of the Blood Angels were to walk through Clearwater Mall and educate members of the public on how an injury or medical condition can result in severe or sudden blood loss in different parts of the body. While doing so, they encourage people to become blood donors.

“The Blood Angels stopped people in their tracks and some grabbing at their cell phones to take pictures as this unique way of introducing blood donor awareness was introduced across the mall.”Bodasing said.

Bodasing added that they are pleased with the public’s reception of this campaign and interaction with the South African National Blood Service personnel.
