More pensioners are set to
benefit from the City of Johannesburg’s property rates rebates come July 1 2015
as the City implement new tariffs.
This comes after the City held
public consultations with rate-payers early in the year, and decided to
increase the pensioners’ income level requirement, ensuring that more
pensioners now qualify.
Group Finance Department
spokesperson, Kgamanyane Stan Mphologela said this year as the City of Johannesburg
we are announcing that the tariffs are going to benefit the pensioners quite a
lot, in a sense that more pensioners will benefit from the Cities property rate
rebates effective from the 1st of July.
“This comes after we have done
public consultations with rate payers. Pensioners to qualify for the property
rate rebates must apply, they are not automatics”
”Pensioners who qualify for
property rate rebate include pensioners who’s gross monthly income is lower
that 700-850 which is lower than last year’s 7.4 and the pensioner must be
staying in the property” Mphologela added .
