WC Government to mark the substance abuse awareness week

Western Cape MEC of Health Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, together with the MEC of Social Decelopment Albert Fritz will be visiting the Cape Town Drug Counselling Centre in Mitchells Plain to mark Substance abuse awareness week which begins today.

Ministerial Spokesperson Siviwe Gwarhube said, the Western Cape government has identified substance abuse as one of the key areas of concern which will be tackled under provisional strategic goal 3, led by the Health department.

Gwarube said, the two Ministers will be taken around the facility and orientated on the work that they do.


"In addition, Minister Mbombo and Fritz will speak to members of the community, clients of the facility and the parents who form their support structure," Gwarube added.
