Two armed robbers were shot and killed yesterday
afternoon in a joint intelligence driven operation including of the Hawks in
Pretoria.
Police followed up on information about an armed
robbery situation taking place in Haaroff Street in Pretoria Moot.
It is believed that the suspects were caught
following a forty-three-year-old woman from the OR Tambo International Airport
to her home and when she drove into her driveway the suspects confronted her.
Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said they spotted the
vehicle they were looking for, a blue BMW in a driveway of a house where the
actually robbery was taking place and police try to arrest these suspects and
shootout ensued which resulted in the two suspects being shot dead and the
third one being wounded.
“We did recover two firearms at the scene which
they include the point .38 special revolver as well as a 9mm pistol. These
firearms will be sent for ballistic testing to determine if they were used for
other crimes and we also do a profile of these alleged robbers to see if they
were involved in other robbery cases.” Naidoo added.
