The African National Congress in the Western Cape is calling on the City of Cape Town to be transparent to the communities of Wynberg and Plumstead regarding the MyCiti project in the area.

In a statement the City of Cape Town’s Bret Herron said they have already offered alternative accommodation to eight of the 26 families.

ANC Cameron Dugmore said unless the city declares a moratorium on all evictions, the Mayor Patricia de Lille speaks to the affected families and unless the city sets up and inclusive task team to explore all roots for the phase two of the project, the ANC will be lobbying for national government to suspend funding on the project.

Dugmore said it is clear that the DA is riding rough shot over communities. They not are consulting. They haven’t actually coasted the detail proposal of the south road plus the two alternatives.

Dugmore continues to say they need to coast those and be transparent with the people of Cape Town in order to pressurize them to come clean we have indicated that we will lobby the National government.
