The Democratic Alliance has called for an
immediate investigation into Police Minister Nkosinathi Nhleko offer of R20
million to suspended Hawks boss Anwa Dramat, in exchange for early
retirement.
DA MP of Police Dianne Kohler Barnard said
this is the latest frantic move by the minister to try everything to get rid of
an independent Hawks boss, whose investigations strayed too close to President
Jacob Zuma.
Kohler Barnard said she knows the law in
due process is not on their said in this matter. The minister is now attempting
to pay R20 million of tax payer’s money to get rid of Dramat. Every illegal and
frantic attempt to purge Dramat has becomes increasingly clear the minister is
being pressured from the very top.
Kohler Barnard continues to say it becomes more
apparent that his handlers at Luthuli House wants Dramat gone by any and all
means necessary without the guard for due process or the rule of law.
“It is not Dramat’s misconduct that
parliament should preoccupy itself with but rather the minister’s blatant
disregard for law and do processes that must be met with swift and decisive
action” Kohler Barnard added.
