Police Constable charged with fraud in Durban

A 32-year-old Durban Constable is appearing in court today after he was arrested following an attempt to extort money from a suspect to squash a 2008 murder.

It is alleged that the Constable requested R5 000 from the suspect to make the case disappear.

Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said the constable was arrested for trying to squash a murder case by soliciting about R5 000 rand from a suspect.

Mulaudzi said and as such we also got information about his dealings and his whereabouts and he was arrested during the handover of the money.
