Popcru welcomes NUM’s new leadership

The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union has welcomed the newly elected leadership of the National Union of Mineworkers, following its elective congress in Boksburg.

In a surprise twist David Sipunzi was voted as the new General Secretary of NUM with Frans Baleni saying he has accepted defeat.

Baleni was voted out by nine votes. Popcru’s Richard Mamabolo they we are hopeful that the union leadership will play a decisive role in regaining lost ground.

“We are hopeful that this will help the union to bring back those members lost to other unions.” Mamabolo added.
