The South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry has added its voice to the criticism of the new visa regulations which came into effect of the 1st of June 2015.

The chamber has however welcomed a review on the regulations which one of the changes now requires a child who is under the age of 18-years-old travelling in or out of the country, must have an unabridged birth certificate.

SACCI Acting CEO Peggy Drodskie said they are very pleased that the Minister of Tourism has indicated that this investigation will indeed take place.

“We are not only concerned about the impact that these travel visas would have on the visitors to South Africa. But we also believe that the impression that it gives to the general public overseas and in other countries that South Africa is not a very friendly country to visit.” Drodskie added.
