A new Thusong Service Center in Grabouw was officially opened yesterday.

The centre which is the 28th one opened enables government to take essential services closer to public especially in rural areas.

Provincial MEC of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning Anton Bredell said the erection of a permanent Thusong center is significant as it will now enable the consistent delivery of government services directly to the doorstep of the Grabouw community.

Ministerial Spokesperson James-Brent Styan says the Grabouw area has been showing a big demand for the kind of service which include the delivering of services like ID books, birth certificates to people who would normally come to big cities for these services, which is obviously a big problem and very costly.

“The Thusong Center has been delivered, we are very excited about the opportunity and the potential”

Styan added that the centre was well received and they look forward to rolling out more of these tenders’ across the province in the months and years to come.
