2 Killed in crash near Kimberley

Northern Cape police said two women were killed when their car collided with a truck between Barkly West and Kimberley.
The driver lost control of the red Daewoo when a tyre burst while they were travelling on the R31 towards Barkly West around 4pm.

ER24 Spokeperson Chitra Bodasing said paramedics, and other services, arrived on scene and found a car that was completely wrecked.

Bodasing said the car was facing the opposite direction that the women were travelling in.

Bodasing said the truck had minor damage. The road was closed to traffic.

Bodasing said unfortunately the women had already succumbed to their injuries.

Bodasing said the women, one believed to be in her mid-20’s and the other in her mid-40’s, were crushed in the car.

Bodasing said they sustained multiple injuries.

Bodasing said they were declared dead on scene. Fire and Rescue Services and paramedics worked together to remove the bodies from the wreckage with the Jaws of Life.

Bodasing said the truck driver was uninjured.

“Local authorities were on scene for further investigations Bodasing added.
