Cape Chamber concerned about robberies of jewellery stores

The Cape Chamber of Commerce has raised its concern regarding the increase in robberies of jewellery stores in and around Cape Town.

On Wednesday a store in Camps Bay was robbed however at this stage no arrests have been made as yet.  Then earlier this month a jewellery store in Blue Route Mall was robbed by a gang of men.

The Chambers Janine Myburgh said the business people will need to ensure that their security is up to standard and that will be additional costs, if they need to upgrade.

Myburgh said and these costs will have to come from somewhere and more often than not it will come from the consumer.

“We are asking the public if they are aware of anybody that appears to be of a nature that would be robbing some of the stores to contact the stores immediately” Myburgh added.
