CPT to strengthen their Metro Police officers through training

Eight metro police officers of the City of Cape Town will receive training from the United States government Drug Enforcement Administration on advance drug agent training course.

City of Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member on Safety and Security JP Smith said the city's safety and security directorate have received a total of 63 training opportunities through the DEA. 

The courses include basic and advanced drug enforcement, advanced enforcement, undercover and surveillance practical applications and chemical diversion investigation.

Smith said “we are grateful for this opportunity, its part through this training over the Last years that our drug busting and task force operations have been a success and have achieved the results you have seen in the past few weeks.

We have managed to do major drug busts in excessive of a million rand, the drug bust last week on the N2 and the Big Tik bust in Maitland in the last two months. These kinds of intelligence driven operations are through such training opportunities, he added.
