The Congress of South African Trade Union in the Western Cape has lashed out at the City of Cape Town for what it labels black people being treated as second class.

This follows Mayor Patricia de Lille this week opening a new spray park in Scottsville.

Cosatu’s Tony Ehrenreich said the black communities will also continue to receive second and third class treatment from the city.

Ehrenreich said what we now see being provided to black communities is sprinkler systems to keep the poor children cool during the hot weather.

“This double standard between white and black communities has become a hallmark of DA hole in the City of Cape Town” Ehrenreich added.

Meanwhile in response the city said Tony Ehrenreich is out of touch with what the communities are enjoying.

Spokesperson for Mayor Patricia de Lille, Zara Nicholson said the city has spent R14 million in developing five spray parks in Valhalla Park, Nyanga, Khayelitsha, Ocean View and Scottsville.

Nicholson said Tony Ehrenreich should trade his outrage and first get the facts before he makes unloading and untrue statements.

“Firstly there are many swimming pools in all communities across the city to name a few there are swimming pools in Keingston, Langa, Retreat, Athlone and Hanoverpark. These spray parks are a new and innovative solutions which has been welcomed in all communities that we have developed them” Nicholson added.
