Water crisis at the Limpopo Mookgophoong Municipality

The Democratic Alliance is calling on the South African Human Rights Commission to investigate the re-occurring water shortage at the Mookgophoong municipality in Limpopo.

DA Deputy MP of Water and Sanitation Leon Basson says this is part of a bigger water crisis that the municipality has failed to manage over a number of years.

Basson said the community was informed on the 08th of January they will be out of water for two hours and we are now in 14 days.

“It’s a huge problem, it effects the sewer plants, the plants has dried up because there is no water so you got a non functional sewer plant and people are striking now in the whole area without any water” Basson added.
