Vas Soni has resigned as the Special investigating unit Boss

On Monday the Presidency in a statement said President Jacob Zuma has received the resignation of Special investigating Unit head Vas Soni. 

President Zuma appointed Soni back in September 2013. 

On Monday Soni said he was resigning due to his wife being unwell for the past five months. 

Presidential Spokesperson Mac Maharaj said it is with regret that we accept the resignation letter of Advocate Vas Soni, given the work he has done in the short time his been head of SIU.

Advocate Soni has turned the SIU into a effective instrumental to fight crime and corruption giving his impressive turn around time with investigations.

"We wish him and his wife well in this time of difficulty, and we wish him well in his future endeavors from the presidency, he added.
