ER24 paramedics attended an accident late last night after two vehicles collided head-on on the N12 in Fochville, Gauteng, leaving three people tragically losing their lives and two others critically injured.

Paramedic’s spokesperson Russel Meiring said they arrived on scene and found two badly damaged vehicles lying on the side of the road. Pieces of both vehicles lay scattered across the road.

Meiring added that on assessment, paramedics discovered two men and young woman trapped inside their vehicle that lay on its roof. Unfortunately both men had already succumbed to their severe injuries. The young female patient lay in the back seat in a critical condition.

He emphasised that rescue services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the patient from the vehicle before treatment could continue. Once freed, paramedics performed CPR, unfortunately no signs of life returned.

“Two other patients were found lying in the second vehicle in a critical condition. Both patients were carefully removed from the vehicle and treated under advanced life support paramedics. Both patients were thereafter transported to Potchefstroom Hospital for further treatment.” Meiring said.

Exact details to the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation
