Chaos has erupted at the City of Cape Town’s full council meeting this is after members of the African National Congress were locked out of the chamber.

Mayor Patricia de Lille said the council is behaving worse than the Economic Freedom Fighters except they are not saying “pay back the money”.

De Lille’s Spokesperson Pierrinne Leukes said the speaker asked them to leave because they were late after caucusing and having continue to disrupts the proceedings.

"This is not Parliament so we have not called any riot police to get anybody to chuck out of the chambers. We are trying to go forward with the rest of the proceedings as the rules by the speaker."  Leukes added.

Meanwhile the ANC’s Xolani Sotashe says there is no truth to the City’s statement that they caused chaos at the council meeting.

Sotashe said there was no such that we disrupted the meeting, the speaker violated the rules of order.
Sotashe added that all they are demanding is fair application of order and answers regarding the demolition of houses at Plumstead to make way for the MyCiti project.

He added that the DA is running away from this debate knowingly very well that they are being exposed on the issue of housing in Plumstead.
We are also going to challenge them on the dismissal of a senior black professional, here in the admiration and the issue of racism.
