The Cape Chamber of
Commerce has called for a more predictable load
shedding schedule in order for businesses and consumer to plan better.
Since Monday the power utility has
implemented scheduled rolling blackouts after several of its generators broke
down.
The Chambers President Janine Myburgh said
Eskom cannot announce a stage one load-shedding and within hours announced
stage two load-shedding.
Myburgh added that It would be better if the
load shedding was kept at stage two for a full day so that the power outages would
be predictable and Commerce and Industry could plan to work around these outages.
She emphasised that in a simple offer
solution you might know that you computers are going to be down for two hour
period in the morning, so you could schedule all your meetings.
“In a workshop or factory, a predictable schedule could put employers in a position to change working hours, or shifts introduce early closing day or move lunch breaks.” Myburgh said.
