Fisherman amputates toe and jet ski assisted

NSRI St Francis Bay duty crew launched the sea rescue craft SPIRIT OF ST FRANCIS II and rendezvoused with the Chokka fishing boat BUKANI I off-shore of Jeffreys Bay to casualty evacuate a 42 year old fisherman suffering an amputated toe sustained after getting his right big toe entangled in the anchor chain.

NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the toe was recovered and transported, with the patient.

Lambinon said aboard our sea rescue craft to Port St Francis where Private Care ambulance services transported the injured fisherman to hospital in a stable but serious condition.

“It is if the toe has managed to be reattached by doctors but the fisherman is expected to make a full recovery Lambinon added.
