Six men arrested for illegal possession of firearms

Police in Victoria West have arrested six men for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

This came after police followed up on information of person traveling from Victoria West en-route to Beaufort West with firearms and ammunition which was stolen at a house breaking and theft at a house in Victoria West.

Police Spokesperson Segio Kock said the member set up Vehicle Check Point approximately 40km out on the N12 South of Victoria West, where they stopped and searched a White Toyota Hilux bakkie. 

Kock added that They found two firearms as well as ammunition. The police managed to arrest six men between the age of 19 and 45 years old.

He also said that police also confiscated the bakkie as it was allegedly utilised in the commission of a crime.

The case has been remanded for 09 February 2015.
