Umalusi says the 2014 Matric class produced the worst Maths Lit results

Yesterday Umalusi announced the matric class of 2014 achieved the worst results for maths literacy since the subject was introduced.

With this announcement, the council also approved the release of the national matric results.

The Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga is expected to announce the final results for national public schools next week.

Umalusi chairperson John Volmink said the council was shocked to find such a significant drop in the pass rate for maths literacy.

Meanwhile,the 2014 pass rate is 98.56 percent according to the Independent Examinations Board.
